Retro video games have officially made a full-blown comeback. Nintendo has re-released NES and SNES \u201cClassic Edition\u201d game consoles, Rampage was inexplicably made into a movie somehow, and Pixels, woof. And the retro gaming craze is hitting the coffee shop with Coffee Crisis<\/a>, a Double Dragon-style brawler. It\u2019s like coffee shop Battle Toads but not frustratingly impossible.<\/p>\n As reported by TNW<\/a>, Coffee Crisis is the creation of Megacat Studios<\/a> and follows the baristas of Black Forge Coffee<\/a>, an actual coffee shop in Pittsburgh\u2014the same shop we reported about last year<\/a> with the controversial punch cards\u2014as they battle aliens trying to take over the Steel City, presumably for its main natural resources: math rock and Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. But the Smurglians\u2014the name of the race of baddies\u2014didn\u2019t know what was in store for them when they landed in the backyard of Black Forge baristas Nick and Ashley, who use unique \u201cpunches, combos, suplexes, and special attacks\u201d to pummel the Smurglians through five levels of side-scrolling glory.<\/p>\n Each level is hand-drawn and draws inspiration from \u201ccity scenes across Pittsburgh,\u201d including \u201clandmarks from across the metropolis like the PNC baseball park and the Duquesne Incline railroad.\u201d True to Black Forge\u2019s occult chic form, the game\u2019s soundtrack features \u201cenergetic metal\u201d from local band Greywalker<\/a>.<\/p>\n Coffee Crisis is available for Mac, Windows, or Linux on Steam<\/a> for a paltry $5.99.
