Punk is in the bones of Portland\u2019s Stumptown Coffee<\/a>. They are, after all, the only coffee brand we are aware of that has their own skateboarding team<\/a>, a team that is more Thrasher than Tony Hawk Pro Skater. So when Stumptown decides to collaborate with a musician, it should come as no surprise when they seek out a legend of the American punk world. And that\u2019s exactly what they did their newest special addition coffee, the Indonesia Bies Penantan<\/a>, created in cooperation with none other than King Stooge himself Iggy Pop<\/a>.<\/p>\n For those unfamiliar with the musical stylings of Iggy Pop\u2014a man who never met a shirt he couldn\u2019t not put on\u2014you may know him for his rather prolific acting career, including a vignette alongside Tom Waits in Jim Jarsuch\u2019s aptly-named Coffee and Cigarettes<\/em>, or what\u2019s more likely, you recognize him as Curve from The Crow: City of<\/em> Angels, one of the greatest movies of our age and I\u2019ll hear nothing to the contrary. He\u2019s been nominated for multiple Grammy\u2019s (and a Razzie), he influenced generations of musicians, and even served as the basis for Ewan McGregor\u2019s character in Velvet Goldmine<\/em>. And now he\u2019s lending his influence to coffee.<\/p>\n Officially released today, the wet-hulled collaboration coffee comes from the province of Aceh, Sumatra by the woman-led Ketiara Cooperative. According to the website, the coffee has \u201cnotes of dates, nutmeg, and a long, chocolatey finish,\u201d and the 12-ounce bags were designed by Iggy himself. The coffee pairs best with \u201cIggy Pop Drinks Espresso<\/a>,\u201d a Spotify playlist of some of Stumptown\u2019s favorite songs by the artist.<\/p>\n
